Walter Gertz was a builder and contractor. She has two brothers, Michael and Scott.
Jami Gertz is Jewish, was raised in Conservative Judaism. She graduated from Maine East High School. After High School, she studied Drama at New York University. Gertz starts her film career in 1981 with the film ‘Endless Love’.

Gertz and her husband, Anthony Rossler, are members of the investment group led by Mark Atanasio that bought the MLB Milwaukee Brewers franchise.
